As the years come and go we as humans age (if you were unaware of this surprise!). Some individuals choose to enjoy the birthday celebration while others desire to ignore the advancement in years all together. This past year Ross and I both dreaded acquiring another year. We have reached the age where we now realize that as we increase in years so do our parents. For our parents they not only grow in wisdom but they become more susceptible to the decline that comes with age. My grandfather used to say that every day from God is a blessing and and we should embrace it with open arms regardless of our bodily state. We did just that this weekend. Ross and I traveled to Warner Robins to celebrate Mrs. Judy's 55th birthday. We were not sure how she would feel or if she would even be interested in celebrating but as my grandfather often did while on earth; she joyfully embraced this new year of life.
Mrs. Judy had many reasons to be negative on Saturday but she chose to share the love of her Father. As we sat in the hospital room the night prior to her birthday (Friday) she made one request. Mrs. Judy had a strong desire to be able to give to others. She has felt over abundantly blessed with the love and care lavished upon her by friends, family, and hospital staff and wanted to attempt to demonstrate her gratitude. She declared that the next day there should be gifts for everyone who entered her room. We made it happen! Everyone who walked into her room on July 31st was given a small box of candy with a slip of paper proclaiming "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you." Philippians 1:3
Many have wondered and asked why there is so much hope and joy in the midst of this difficult time in life? Mr. Tony and Mrs. Judy humbly testify concerning God's greatness and sovereignty in their lives. One of their favorite song lyrics is as follows: How can I keep from singing Your praise, how can I ever say enough how amazing is Your love. Mr. Tony and Mrs. Judy continue to sing His praises daily. Family and friends continue to pray for divine intervention in the form of spiritual healing, but what I believe that we sometimes fail to acknowledge are the miracles that He gives daily. He continues to grant peace; perseverance; reassurance; great friends; and most recently a few wonderful days salted with strength and energy.
55 definitely looked good to me this past weekend, HOW AMAZING IS HIS LOVE!
